The Shepherd is a multi-volume supernatural thriller comic set in the afterlife; created and written by the father-and-son duo Andrea Lorenzo Molinari and Roberto Xavier Molinari. The series was first published in 2015 by Caliber Comics before being picked up as a critical tent pole for Scout Comics' horror imprint Black Caravan in 2020. Starring Dr. Lawrence Miller, Ph.D., a.k.a., "The Shepherd," the story centers around the journey of a middle-aged professor who, after enduring a harrowing tragedy, finds himself a de facto guide of souls in the afterlife. A specialist in ancient religions by training, Dr. Lawrence is granted extraordinary power over both the living and the dead by means of the mystical Staff of Truth, bequeathed to him by the spirit of his father.
